Youth Initiatives

Youth Initiatives (YI) consists of youth representatives from both the private and public high schools that develop and implement an annual substance abuse prevention plan. The YI group formed in June 2010.
Priorities for the 2017-2018 school year are: underage drinking, prescription drug abuse, heroin use, marijuana use and cyber bullying. YI is participating in the following projects:

  • Assisting Marshfield Police Department with Prescription Drug Take-Back Events to collect unwanted and unused medications
  • Volunteering at four Marshfield Area Parent Network presentations
  • Hosting two Days of Kindness anti-bullying awareness events in partnership with Parents on Campus by serving hot beverages to students and staff
  • Participating in National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week
  • Creating a video showing Marshfield data related to prescription drug abuse and heroin use for the Drug Task Force community education and awareness campaign
  • Participating in Parents Who Host Lose the Most public awareness campaign
  • Participating in Youth Initiatives Retreat
  • Participating in Back to School Bonfire
